Offshore geotechnical investigation is directly linked with foundation design, construction, maintenance and decommissioning for human-made structures in the sea. Oil platforms, wind turbines foundations, submarine pipelines are examples of such structures. A geotechnical examination includes seabed surface and subsurface exploration, soil sampling, and laboratory analysis. The primary purposes of a geotechnical investigations are to: Investigate the soil and geologic conditions of a site and to provide recommendations & design criteria for construction.
